Talismans Honouring Women - Background

These pieces reflect the deep respect I hold for the role of women in our society as individuals, mothers, friends and lovers. I wish to celebrate our feminine humanity.

From the beginning of consciousness jewelry has possessed talismanic power - the making, giving, and wearing of it representing love, status, community, and connection to the earth. Through personal experience I have come to recognize the power of talismans as agents of change. As tangible objects our daily contact with them (visually, physically or verbally) reaffirms their special meaning for us and moves us closer to our goals. I believe that with focus, balance, and a sense of well-being we can create for ourselves the life and being that we desire.

I also recognize the power of these specific talismans. They were created out of a deep desire to heal myself in the midst of a troubled relationship. I began working with the women's symbol in honour of International Women's Day in 1994 as a part of a conscious desire to acknowledge my importance on this planet as a woman.

I have been truly blessed by the path I have followed since their initial creation. These pieces are often given to me as gifts - in the form of visions or messages. I am in awe of the power they have been revealed to posssess both by my own experience, and the experiences related to me by those who wear them.

I believe that we can help to heal ourselves and our planet by connecting with the positive forces of the Universe. Breathe deeply and visualize yourself as a being of light.
